The Australasian Quilt Convention (AQC) is back in Melbourne after a four-year hiatus, bringing quilters from around the country to learn, shop, and see a world-class collection of quilts.
Held at the Royal Exhibition Building in Carlton Gardens, AQC will feature a range of classes led by top tutors from Australia, the UK, and the US, as well as a bustling marketplace where attendees can discover the latest quilting and sewing supplies from specialist retailers.
One of the highlights of AQC will be the announcement of the winners of the AQC Challenge, themed ‘In Full Bloom’. The convention will also premier the 2023 Australian Quilt Show, offering visitors a chance to see quilts from around the country on exhibition.
Other highlight exhibitions include Miniature Art, Grand Designs by Japanese tutor Kumiko Frydl, an amazing collection of 30cm square quilts which are finely detailed replicas of full-size quilts. There’ll also be a collection of quilts from the European Patchwork Meeting which is held in France annually – this is the first time quilts from the event have come to Australia.
The AQC is a must-attend event for anyone interested in quilting, sewing or textile art, and offers a unique opportunity to learn from the best, see the latest products, and connect with like-minded quilters. The event will take place from April 13 to 16, and more information can be found at www.aqc.com.au.
About AQC: The Australasian Quilt Convention is a leading quilting event in the Southern Hemisphere, attracting quilters from around Australia to learn, connect, and be inspired.
